Honestly being a nerd isn’t a subculture anymore it hasn’t been a subculture since like the 70s. so this whole oh I’m so different I’m a nerd like no you’re not different because being a nerd has been co-opted by capitalism to the point where your favorite franchise is worth billions and billions of dollars. there are public comic con’s there are public character expos & specialised conventions, there are billions of dollars that are pumped into advertising and media & television and print. like you’re not some shadowy figures you haven’t been shadowy figures since the first Star Wars like some people might look at you a little funny but you’re not of a subculture anymore. we can all drop the facade now you’re no different than the general public. I know it’s fun to hold onto titles but at the end of the day everybody plays video games everybody reads comics everybody watches Sci-Fi movies everyone at some level is involved in quote-unquote nerd culture like you don’t have the Monopoly on that grow up.
